J-Core Hardcore et al
June 4th, 2009Personally although I can often tell the difference between some kinds of electric music and others I can't always, it seems to have so many subtly different varieties that keeping track of them all is even harder then keeping track of all the diffrent blends and flavours of *ix systems. Ergo who cares enough other then complete geeks?
I should point out that I'm a computer/anime/j-idol otaku not a general music otaku, as such have no expertise or highly focused ear. I just come across shit and like it not comparing it to anything else I've consumed (well unless there's some kind of sample and I've gone lol shit it's K-on.)
So I came across electric music back in some far gone era whilst it wasnt' until the prodigy that I decided I liked it - this was then reinforced by encountering Happy Hardcore. Which was one of the first locations I encountered anime voice samples and anime imagery outside of the three or four anime you could get your dirty mitts on in the early ninties as an under 16 year old with no mates and no purchasing power (didn't get anymore then dinner money £1 a day and a game a month back then - I know get out the violins.)
Anyway my enjoyment of various kinds of electric music continue to this day from 8bit to gabba. I think that electric music, much like the Beatles is one of those awsome sub cultures we produced in the UK then kind of lost somewhere along the line.
Anyway with all my meandering I should get back to where I was going, and that isn't a loose nit flabby sentance I don't know what is.
Sometime ago I came across DJ Sharpnel, with their heavy use of anime samples, tunes, as well western pop culture samples from things like pulp fiction, also plenty of j-pop samples, it was entertaining to listen too aswell as just being awsome chaos for the ears.
So looking for some blasterhead stuff the other day I ended up coming across lots of random bits and pieces, and I compiled a playlist...
I suppose some of the frantic insanity included isn't to most peoples taste, alot of it probably wouldn't be viewed as all that good by people who are in "the scene" in much the same way as I dislike various anime becouse they don't meet up to the various things I've decided I like over years of dedicated fanatsism. But whatever, it's my fucking list.
lol
