New Games
February 23rd, 2010An RPG I picked up at the weekend in PDF form off of IPR looked quite interesting it was called esoterrorist and followed characters that investigated cultists whose aim is to break down the barriers between the human world and the world of hideous beasts. Now that world was interesting but a bit gun ho yank orientated (the whole terrorist protecting the state of the nation kind of vibe to is was hmmm :/) also I couldn't see how to make a really interesting campaign that didn't end up being a knock off X-Files type series.
So looking around I decided to pick up Fear Itself and the book of Unremitting Horror now here I found something very interesting. Aimed more towards one shots, it had a grittier less joined up feel to it than Esoterrorist (Esoterrorist has a central agency that fights the evil for the government or some such, I got kind of distracted.)
So I have a very "Se7en" kind of world in my head for this game, it'll be set in the city I grew up in but a dark, twisted, near future version of it. The first game shall follow a flash back of the characters as they first encounter the terrifying darkness beneath the surface of mankinds lie.
It'll be a game with dark evil human charaters who give the monstrous creatures dragging themselves into reality a run for their money. A corporate conspiracy in mass social manipulation and mundane supernatural creatures just trying to survive.
Both of the games (Esoterrorist and Fear Itself) are written using the Gumshoe system it's a sound system that I think is very versatile.
Anyway I have a headache and I'm going to think about Reina.
